Has anyone added a pdf link in a products page to show instructions for that product? How difficult of a mod is this or is there an add-on I could get?

Is there a way to utilize the extra fields to accomplish this?

Just add a new extra field and add the link right in it

Thanks, seemed easy enough. So I added the extra field and inserted the following link

<a href="files/instructions/23100.pdf">PDF Instructions</a>

and the results I got when I click on the link is:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /xcart/files/instructions/23100.pdf on this server.


I've obviously missed something. I've got XC running locally on a WAMP server setup. Suggestions?

The files folder by default has a 'deny all' .htaccess file in it. Put the folder in the root - call it 'instructions' and link to that.

You might want to look at alteredCart's Product Page Downloads - it would be perfect for what you are trying to do.
