We're moving to XC5, and just wondering, UK states in XC5 is confusing and county(State) is not now required for shipping purpose.

So would it create any headache for me if I delete all UK States/counties from XC5 set up and leave it up to customer?? e.g., would it create any problems with XC5 talking to SagePay when payment processing?

We do not use X-Cart 5 yet but use 4.6 (used to be 4.1!)

We used to let our customers type the state (County) not anymore

They would type all sorts It sometimes caused issues with payment gateways.

So we now make then select for the drop down listings - much safer

Just my two pence!

In X-C4, we modified the list to 48 counties that we have. In X-C5, they have counties, mixed with cities, mixed with localities, in total 253 of them. Which I feel makes it confusing, I am not sure why they have done that. In fact, it's a mess.

I feel we will have to modify the list again and cut it down from 253 to 48 counties we have.

I also wonder if payment gateways checks counties for UK transactions, I thought Post Code and House number and Street were checked, and not counties.

Just checked SagePay terminal payment on their site, and even they do not ask for counties in their address field, so I wonder if "County" is really needed.
