Default Using a static page instead of home.php

Hi,

Our client would like greater control of the homepage.

Would it be possible to use a static page in place of the homepage? Currently there is no functionality from the store used on it. There is a jquery sliding 'carousel' and some modular text 'blocks' linking to other areas of the website but no latest items or the like.

Are non coders restricted to using the webmaster mode for the homepage?

You can edit the variable through the languages area - there is a wysiwyg editor built in just like the static pages.
