Does anyone know how to get the invoice to sort items by a specific field? I need my invoices to sort by the "itemid" field in the table "order_details".

Weird- I found this line of code in order_data:

<table summary="{$lng.lbl_products_optiosn|escape}">
<tr>
<td{if $is_nomail ne 'Y'} valign="top"{/if}>

That is definatelly a tipo but the summary attribute has no effect at all

And certainly doesn't effect my sort-order issue

Any luck on changing your invoices' sort order? I need to get mine sorted by SKU, currently it looks like the items appear in the order they were added to the cart.

Nope. They recognize that it is a bug and said it would be fixed in a future version.
