Default How do I keep the site in the HTML catalog

Hi,

My site, www.designerdogwear.com is published to a html catalog.

But unfortunately my View Cart (http://www.designerdogwear.com/store/cart.php) & Checkout (http://www.designerdogwear.com/store/cart.php?mode=checkout) links point to /store/ urls which then produce a /store/ duplicate of my site.

What do I need to do to change my cart and checkout so they do not go to the /store/ version.

Thanks
Justin

Well either way you don't want to use the html catalog - that has multiple issues and is a relic of the 3.x branch. Instead, use the custom urls built-in to 4.2, or if you are sticking with 4.1.8, you absolutely need this mod:

Thanks Banlinor.

I have heard mix reviews of 4.2. I have just been into the upgrade section and was looking at upgrading to 4.1.12 as there are a few people saying that 4.2 is very buggy and that 5 will be coming out later this year due to PA-DSS compliancy.

Do you have any thoughts on that?

Also, I looked at the Mod you mentioned and it looks very good. Do you know what it costs to upgrade as you upgrade xCart?

And how easy is it to install or is it worth spending the $50 to get them to do it?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Justin

I would upgrade to 4.1.12 and leave it at that until v5 comes out. You won't need to upgrade to v5 unless you want to, as Qualiteam will be releasing a payment gateway interface that will allow the 4.1 branch to be compliant.

We don't do upgrades, so I'm not sure what it will cost you, it depends on how custom your site is.

CDSEO is extremely easy to install as long as you are comfortable editing files via FTP. Your call - but if you aren't comfortable with it, $50 is well worth it

Thanks for the quick response Balinor.

When you say you dont do upgrades does that mean you run old versions? I try to keep up to date from a security perspective but sometimes it can be a hassle when it is a major change.

Interested to know your thoughts and experiences on the upgrade matter.

thanks
Justin

I mean we typically pay Qualiteam or another firm to perform any major upgrades as they are a real PITA. The version of X-Cart we install for our clients is highly customized, and we don't begin working with a new release until we feel it is stable - so for 4.1 that was version 4.1.8. Our philosophy is 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' so we typically don't upgrade a stable release (like the current 4.1.12 release) unless there is a fix/improvement that benefits the client specifically.

4.1.12 will have some improvements over your 4.1.8 version, but whether or not you upgrade is up to you. As long as you are continually installing the security patches when they come out, 4.1.8 is perfectly fine.
