I am loading my thumbnail and detail pictures from separte folders from the file system rather than the data base. I am approaching 300 pics in each of the folders and I have about 100 more products to add. Just wondering if there is a recommendation for the maximum number of pictures I should put in a single folder? Should I create new folders for the remaining 100 pics or can xcart handle it without any display delays if there are 400, 500 or more jpgs in a folder?

Why? The number of file in a folder has no effect at all on speed.

thanks for the reply. I thought a folder with a hundreds of jpgs might make it harder for xcart to locate/display the jpgs. good to know a large number of pics in a folder will not affect the speed of display. thanks.

Nope, it just goes right to the image, doesn't have to 'browse' first
