Default Setting background color of the header

I've tried to search this and can't seem to get it done. Can someone post the steps to managing the background color of the header? I am calling the header the area across the top, from the logo to the buttons on the right.

Someone should come up with a mod to SIMPLY add your logo, banner, and color scheme.

The colors of the site are all controlled by skin1.css. The header area is controlled by head.tpl. Just edit the template as you would like, adding or changing the classes to fit your color scheme.

Default Could you give me more help?

I have seen this reply before. What do I use to edit it? I play with web site creation but I don't know much about classes or editing templates. Maybe I should be asking how to edit templates!

Can you recommend a software package or tutorial site to get me started?

Thanks a million

You really need to know html and css in order to perform these kinds of operations. If you don't, my suggestion would be to look for some professional help to achive the look you want. X-Cart has an extremely steep learning curve, and it is not a matter of finding the right software, but learning HTML/CSS/Smarty.
