Default Comprehensive guide to templates

Being new to css and smarty templates (just started this morning), I've been relatively successfull at modifying the templates to my liking by trial and error.

Some of the template names and locations seem intuitive, but some of the others are a bit mysterious to me. The manual wasn't much help as far as this goes.

Is there a list somewhere of what each template's main focus is, where it is located in the hierarchy and what attributes it can be used to alter?

Hoping the final result of all the efforts will look like a combination of these two works-in-progress:

Your best bet is Webmaster Mode, as to my knowledge, there is no comprehensive template 'map' other than that.

Not a bad job for your first day of template editing!

Default thank you both

Thanks for your quick replies. The webmaster mode is a great help. So is the constructive criticism about speed.

This morning I had an epiphany that may help anyone else who is having the problem I was. If you hover your pointer over the area you want to modify on your webpage, the templates involved are listed in the toolbar at the bottom of the browser. Probably not news to the pros, but there you have it.

Thanks for the help! It amazes us that this type of info is not located where someone can easily find it.

one of the things that ticks me off about that though, is that most templates are too long for the status bar and get truncated so you kind of have to guess :/ havent been able to find a way to keep it from getting cut off
