How do you add the link to the "About Us" page.
I want it to show under "Help" section along with
Contact Us, Privacy, and Term & Conditions page.

Add it as a static embedded page and it will show up automatically in the help menu.

would that create a brand new page?
what I am trying to do is to make the link to the built in "About us" page
at the link

www.yoursite.com/shop/help.php?section=about

which is similar to the link under help section to "Contact us" page

Yes, that would create a new page. How did you create the about us us page?

The "About us" page is the built in page that come when I install x-cart.
Here is the link

and I just need to create the link to that page. I am trying to put the link
under Help section in the main page.

Ah sorry, forgot that doesn't appear by default in the help menu. Just open up help.tpl and just above this line of code:

{include file="pages_menu.tpl"}

add this:

About Us
