Now if you need to search for a product with defined product variants by the quantity, you need to use the sum of the real quantities of all its variants.

Idiot alert. No bug. I had made the "user profile options" in general settings set to "not active" to shorten the form for signup and checkout. In doing so, the first and last name fields in the DB are not there for the form to use. =X (I think the checkout process is too long) I get a lot of customers start the check out process and then just leave...

we really like x-cart but this is the exact reason we stopped using it, too many checkout steps, buttons and fields ect...we like to stay up to date on the latest x-cart happenings just in case things take a turn for the better

We are going to include the option that will allow you to turn all the checkout steps into one in 4.1.0 . Unfortunately, we cannot implement this feature into 4.0.x branch because we are working on it's stability.

However, in 4.0.x it is possible to reduce the number of checkout steps by limiting the number of payment methods available to customers to 1. If the store administrator defined only 1 active payment method and the customer is logged in, the checkout will include just one step: entering the payment info and 'Submit'. If the customer is anonymous, the checkout will include two steps: 1) providing the personal info and 2) providing the payment info and 'Submit'.

Good to hear it.

As this is a major development it would be good to see how you plan to make this work etc and allow people to chip in their comments and thoughts so that we get the best possible solution to what many consider to be one of xcarts biggest problems.

All checkout steps into one screen is nice, but it also has the effect of information overload from a visual point of view.

The checkout needs simplification visually, it has a habit of frightening the average customer the way it is.

Simple, 1,2,3 type checkout, that guides the customer properly instead of confusing them, showing the fields needed, without needing a whole invoice and 4 page heights of scrolling for each and every page.

As shan mentioned it's a very critical point in a shopping cart that the checkout process is as refined and as simple as possible.
