Hi,

I want to create some 'manufacturers' and have products attached to them, but I don't want those manufacturers to show up in the left bar or the site map. This is because they only have very few products, and I only want significant manufacturers with multiple products to be visible in those places.

Am I right in saying that I can create manufacturers and leave them inactive (this will prevent them from showing in the bar and sitemap on the customer side), but still assign products to them (on the admin side)?

Certainly that seems to be the case, but I ask because I also have some inactive product categories and most of the time these are not visible in the product details page (in either the Main Category or Additional Categories fields). Then, sometimes, for reasons I don't understand, those inactive categories DO appear and can be selected.

With this in mind I just want to confirm that the behaviour I'm seing for inactive manufacturers is what I should expect - that is, I can assign products even if a manufacturer is inactive, but that manufacturer won't show up in the left bar or sitemap.
