Default Variable for text box font color (in Search box) 4.0.11unix

So I went about editing things here and there to get my cart customized nicely. Then I went to type in some text in the search box and it's white (with the text box of course being a white background too). Then I noticed that my drop/pulldown menus (for use with choosing quantities) also was white on white.
For the life of me I can not find the font color selection in skin1.css or
the various .tpl's I've edited.

Some of the other text colors are also off (like black on black for Price in the product description pages).

Thanks for your help in advance!

If you want to see what I've done and what I'm talking about... here's my site
I've only been working on it for the last two days so it's nowhere near ready to be 'released' for my customers yet.

For some reason you have this in your skin1.css (don't forget to change the permissions before you go live):

Code:
body, p, div, th, td, p, input, select, textarea { FONT-FAMILY: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, Sans-serif; COLOR: #FFFFFF; FONT-SIZE: 12px;

You are basically telling it to use white text for everything including input, select and textarea and the description text on your detail pages (which doesn't work on a white background!). Change the color to #000000 and see what happens

Ohhhh. Well that makes sense.
So now that I've fixed that little error... the next question is of course, how
do I change the various colors of texts throughout the site? Now that I have black fonts throughout and I have a black background... : )
Is there some sort of a legend/mapkey that tells me what the various variables are in the .css or the .tpls? I haven't found one yet.

As for the permissions... what am I supposed to set? I thought I did it all correctly according to the x-cart installation instructions making the directory 755 or something like that.

Thanks for your time.

Well, your best bet is to use Webmaster Mode to see which template is which. Then you can open that template and see what style each item is calling. Since all of your dialog boxes are white, I would keep the 'main' font defaulting to black, and just go in and change anything that is outside of the white boxes. Unless of course you are planning on changing those white boxes to black?

As for permissions, read this thread:
