Connecting Outlook 2010 with Store Database
I just finished linking my store DB to my Outlook 2010 with Exchange using GeniusConnect. I was originally trying to find a CRM program that would work within Outlook itself but could not find exactly what I was needing. My original idea of using GeniusConnect was to pull customers email addresses out of the store DB so that I could better manage email campaigns and to stay in better contact with our customers while still using Outlook. After working with GeniusConnect I discovered I could actually pull the data from the Orders Table in the store DB and set them up as individual contacts in a Outlook. I created a new contact folder in Outlook called Orders. I can update order notes right in Outlook and they are updated in the store DB as well. I also like the fact that when you open a contact, which is actually an order from the DB, it also shows all of your emails between you and the customer within the contact as this is a default feature of Outlook. Tracking information can also be updated via the Outlook Contact. I am sure there is quite a bit more that can be done with this and I just got started but so far it seems rather handy. You can also create user defined fields to match whatever field you need to see or update in your X-cart table. If anyone has any thoughts or ideas on this please let me know.
