at least it's job security
So I was just informed by the boss lady that she wants to completely redesign the site, any suggestions as to how to edit it, someplace else, make it work, then upload to current site? I don't want it all cattywampus before hand.
Anyone?

Re: at least it's job security
Install devsite as a subdirectory of live store, do all the work there, copy over to the live store. Use separate database

Re: at least it's job security
You can also use a subdomain so that the directory structure remains the same, like dev.mystore.com. Use a copy of the database during development. Close the dev store with the shopkey.

Re: at least it's job security
Yeah I was going to suggest what Cherie said.
I actually have several websites that I run development x-cart sites on for a while. Then I backup the DB in sql, mod the sql file to change the suffix if I need too and Import it via php Admin.
