We would like to be able to select a product color option and a size option and show customer stock available or "allow x-xx days Delivery". It is not possible or viable to keep certain lines of stock. We then order in when customer makes a purchases. "out of stock" is not an option we would like to use.

I hope someone can help.........a lot of sites now use this option. It would be nice to see a module released for it.

I think you could use BCS preorder/backorder to do this. Check with BCS before purchasing.

Almost, these are the products that are not held in stock, a good example is Ladies Bras......... 5 makes with 5 different styles and each has say 2 colors and can have more than 20 sizes per color.......is 1000 Bras holding in stock only 1 item. This is not done by a lot of retailers because of the change in fashions....... only popular sizes are hold in stock. A lot off stores don't always carry the stock and carts don't seem have a way to work around around it.

I likely don't fully understand your requirement, but I think the BSC backorder mod would do what you describe. You can change the messaging visible to the customer to whatever you want - you don't have to call it back order or pre order, you could have it say "allow xx days for delivery" and set that for the variant combinations that you do not keep in stock. You also do not have to use the words "Out of Stock". In your administration, the order is placed in a backorder queue, which you can then manage in ways that fit your process. I would run the requirement by the people at BCS - I find them to be very helpful with questions and they are willing to make customizations to their products if it is not exactly what you need.

thank you, for being helpful gb2world. We will have a look at backorder and contact BCS. I guess the best way to explain it is, there are 5 products and one isn't hold in stock and customers buys the item knowing to allow 7-10 days delivery, rather than normal 24hrs dispatch.
