Default outlook html mail vs eudora

Hi,

I was working before editing a whole bunch of email templates to be html formatted and when I was testing I was using eudora mail and it worked fine.

I was just testing in outlook 97 now that an issue I was having with it before was solved, but the emails come in text with html tags through it.

Strange, using eudora it works fine, actually forwarded the test email from outlook to another email address, same host, then tried to read it with eudora. The eudora brought up html formatting, but the outlook didnt.

The outlook format was like this,

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">

<HTML>
<HEAD><TITLE>Profile</TITLE>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
</HEAD>

<BODY BGCOLOR="#FFFFFF" leftMargin=0 topMargin=0 MARGINWIDTH="0" MARGINHEIGHT="0">

<TABLE BORDER="0" CELLSPACING="0" CELLPADDING="0" WIDTH=75%>

<TR>
<TD COLSPAN=4>http://image.gif</TD>
</TR>

</TABLE>

<CENTER>
<TABLE BORDER="0" CELLSPACING="0" CELLPADDING="0" WIDTH=75%>

<TR><TD>
</TD></TR>

<TR><TD>
</TD></TR>

(more code to this table, just a sample. Table tested on Adobe golive, works fine.)

The image reference is fine, it works on eudora. The xcart site is set up to send html mails, but I dont understand why outlook gives it as text and eudora gives it as html.

If anyone has ideas, they would be greatly appreciated.

Check your options settings in Outlook or upgrade to a version that is newer than 5 years old.

In my experience there are few people still using Older Office products like MS Version 97.

A better test would be had in Outlook Express. This is the most widely used mail client in the Windows world.

Good Luck.
