Default Site Map Loads In PHP v HTML?

My site map is being loaded in .php and all links on the site including categories, products and static pages are in .php. Assume this is not good for SEO purposes. Believe the site map should load in .html and all links except for checkout etc should be .html also.

Do you agree?

If so, my site map is a BCS Mod and unless anyone know of an easy fix I will ask BCS for assistance?

it's considered better to have html links, but to do so, you would need to have a module such as XC SEO, DSEFU, or CDSEO installed. If you have one of those modules installed, and you still see php urls on the sitemap, you should contact BCSE

Additionally, if a page is just whatever.php (without any parameters afterwards), that's fine. If it's a url such as product.php?productid=555, etc, then that's a case where you would want an HTML url (as otherwise, all product info gets attributed to the base of the url, which is product.php). with a good SEO module, you get important keywords added into the generated html url, and it appears as if each product has it's own dedicated page/url

Thanks Jon,

I have run the html catalog so have html links. That▓s why I expect the site map to link to them (product, category and static pages). Regarding the module XC SEO, was not aware of its existence until now. Does XCSEO work on Zeus and if so would I have to update to 4.1.9? DSEFU does not work on Zeus. Have so far spent $200 plus on mods and reluctant to spend more (on CDSEO) as I only have a small number of products.

Thanks for the additional information.

XC SEO currently doesn't have rules created for Zeus, as I've never had access to a Zeus webserver. If you'll contact me via email (in my signature), I'll work with you to create Zeus rewrite rules, and then make the rules a part of the XC SEO distribution.

For the sitemap to link to HTML Catalog urls, you might have to contact BCSE to see if that is an option for their mod, or if they have a solution for you. There are a number of reasons to avoid using the HTML Catalog though, the prime reason being duplicate content (which isn't as big of an issue as it used to be, but clutters up search engine results), the next biggest reason is the fact that you have to manually regenerate each time (ugh)

This is a very generous offer from Jon, particularly so when one considers that there is no financial benefit.

Much appreciated.
