Default Simple question re: SSL certificate from a simple mind...

*** Think I got it - but will still appreciate your input regarding the best place to put it - THANKS!

Greetings,

I'm feeling extra slow today - need to add the script for my SSL certificate to the new 4.1.8 presence. The old store has it show up on every page - even in admin - at the bottom of the right-hand vertical menu. But I can't remember how I did it, and I can't find it as I peruse the old store files (yet - still looking)

Where should I put it? Searched the board, but didn't see anything that help - doesn't mean it's not there, just that I haven't found it. Sorry to be asking dumb questions (again), but asking will no doubt be faster than mucking about.

I assume you mean the seal/icon and not the certificate....if so, which SSL cert do you have?

Moving to Template Editing.

balinor - yes, I am referring to the icon itself. What is the "Best Practice" in terms of its placement?

It is a starfield technologies certificate - from my Godaddy reseller account - and should behave like a regular ol' GoDaddy one.

Thank you for your promt reply and for moving this to the apropriate location.

Personally I don't like to show them until the customer gets into the secure part of the site, but that is just me. I usually put it up in the header on checkout, so it is very clear to them that there is a certificate in place. How you add it depends on the instructions you received from the certificate company. Some are just a simple image you add just like any other image, some have JavaScript verification. I'm guessing the GoDaddy ones are just an image because they are so inexpensive, so just add it like any other image.

Given the MASSIVE spoofing attack I suffered, I think it would be better to display it on every page. I've added it to the copyright.tpl - do you think this is this a decent place for it?

I'd like to add it to the right vertical menu space - eh... wherre would I put it if i was to do so?

I'll probably post a query about how/if I can rcover my domain and mail from the black hole that it's been dropped into by spam filters around the world because of the spoofing. Grrrr...

In any case, THANK YOU. It is because of the help of you and the other kind folks here that I have not just given up.

Sure, just as long as it isn't distracting the bottom of the site is a good place for CC icons, ssl icons, hacker proof, etc.
