i meant to put the code within the loop but before the conditional statements

is your {section} loop within the product.tpl? cause those statements wont work if it isnt

No, the loop is on the specials.tpl page. At least we know why it won't work that way. I am not versed in using the loops that well to make this work. So I guess I will have to put this on the back burner for now.

I thought I could just access the variable with a check but I see now that isn't that easy.
