Is there any way to upload a specific image (other than thumb and detail image) for a product, that would ONLY show when a user was looking at a particular category?

My store has "shelves" that need to appear when a customer is in a particular category (aal products in that category are also on the shelf). This gives the appearence of the item sitting on a shelf.

Problem is that this image of the item with the section of shelf at the bottom cannot be displayed anywhere else but on that page designed specifically for it.

Is there a way to upload that shelf image and have it only display when viewing all of the products in a category (where it will fit perfectly with the shelf design)?

Replace x with the category number.

Ok got it. But, this will end up being a seperate ftp upload of each image if i am correct. How easy is it to add an extra image upload field for a product in the backend? Thanks again for the reply.

Not that easy if you only want it to show for a certain category.
