Default Can X-cart handle more extreme product options?

I'm finishing up with my first x-cart implementation for one of my clients.

But I also have another client that I am going to be working with that is going to need a shopping cart. I think X-cart would be great for this particular client but I don't know whether X-cart can handle the various number of product options that he will be needing.

In working with the first customer, the product options are fairly simple. But this second client, well he needs something with a lot of options added to each product.

In fact, it will be something similiar to this:
http://www.lovecookies.com/xcart/customer/product.php?productid=2&cat=1&page=1

I need some fields filled in by the customer and some will require just a checkbox while still others will need dropdowns. The product involves ordering checks online so they will need to be able to input all the information needed for their checks, such as name, address, account numbers, check starting number, bank routing number and various other things.

The pricing itself is a bit different from your ordinary normal set price in that the check price is based on quanities such as:
200 checks = xx.xx dollars
300 checks = xx.xx dollars and so on.

My question is, can X-Cart do this and if so how? I have looked at the product options and basically all I see in adding options is that it creates mainly dropdowns.

This is the only thing holding me back from using X-Cart for this particular client.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as I am just about ready to move forward with this client.

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

The backbone of the xcart site can cope with pretty much anything, but from what you say, it may need some tweaking to get it to do this.

Put the options into the products in the normal way, but then maybe hardcode some of the options into the /modules/product_options/customer_options.tpl template to get it to display properly.

Default Thank you.

I'll have to take a look at this template and see what I can do. I did take a quick look and I'm not sure exactly what to do with it. It looks like this is more for the front end, what the customer sees.

I'm not sure how to do this on the admin side of it. I know how to add options but in looking at the /modules/product_options/customer_options.tpl, how would it know how to display the correct option in the correct way?

I'll have to play around with this one. I'm pretty good at customizing the templates. Just not as sure about customizing things like this. Thanks for the reply FunkyDunk.
