This is the first time we are trying to edit a template so please forgive me. Why do I receive an error message after editing it?

I read somewhere about changing permissions maybe? Or removing it from admin safe mode?

Please help! Thank you!

Error-File operation is failed.

You have to make sure that your templates have write permissions.
All the templates in the skin1 folders should have 666 write permissions.

Thank you so much, I kind of figured that.

Not to sound TOTALLY stupid but what are file permissions and how do you change them? I feel like I have read the entire x-cart manual and still don't quite get it.

Cwill, PLEASE add your version to your signature:

Edit profile, enter version, enter help desk password, click the 'Always attach my signature:' box, save.

Figured it out, nevermind-thanks! I realized I had to edit templates from the backend rather that through x-cart. I'm an idiot! Thanks!
