I've been browsing other sites, and I see that some of them have a real cool way of making the upselling links work real cool:

with pictures and add to cart buttons!!!

How did you guys do it?
Any tips are appreciated.

if we told you, we would have to kill you

seriously though look at the code for products.tpl and copy the bits out of it that you want into the modules/upselling/related_products.tpl template

and experiment - you can't break it - or if you do just restore the original file and try again.
