I just downloaded the Gold Package. I'm not going to modify the look much. Where can I redo the header? I found the images (logo), but I want to add a similar look from the rest of my site.

Advice from a fellow newb who made his first inroads to modding the store look this weekend.

Hopefully you use Dreamweaver MX, or feel comfortable editing in a text based editor.

Read, read, search, read and then ask questions. Most of the answers to questions you may have can be found this forum, and the mods are awesome. This is one of the most helpful communties going. Just be sure to search before you ask to avoid posting redundant questions.

The main page or home page has the demo text on it. I had a look at the file: "/customer/main/welcome.tpl " and this is what I want to edit. The .tpl file calls the variable that contains the text.

Where's the actual text?

Try the backend, admin section, languages. Select English from the drop down. Then you can choose the text type (label, email etc.). You can also use a filter to refine your search.

A good idea is to disable languages that you don't plan on using. The multiple language support is a nice feature, though I wish it was disabled by default.
