Odd screen display on refresh in IE6 but not firefox

Default Odd screen display on refresh in IE6 but not firefox
Hello
I'm having some mods done to the appearance of my cart and when in IE6 browser when I refresh a page or navigate a blank grey screen appears with a silver stripe down the middle which is not good. When in Firefox this screen does not appear. Can anyone suggest why this is happening so I can point the design guys in the right direction. There were other minor problems in IE6 that have been solved but not the grey screen problem.
