My problem is that i have scaled down the picture in photoshop and i want to save it as a jpeg. (it's a product picture

i wouldnt say that this is the case. xcart would not alter the filetype of your image.
maybe your viewing the page and then doing a right click and save as and getting a bmp if you have the images stored in the filesystem you should be able to view them easily that way

ok i c wat your saying, so do you have an optimal file width height resolution etc? Because my 56ker are complaining of load times

Use the Photoshop 'Save for the web' option to compress the image for the web.
