![]() Hi guys,
I am really green behind the ears with X-Cart and have a fundemental question regarding an entire site design with X-Cart integrated. Let's say I build an entire site for a company showcasing their products with fancy Flash demonstrations, a flat file news publishing system, and some other dynamically generated *stuff*. Then one day the company comes to me and says, "boy it would be nice if we could sell some of this stuff with an online shopping cart". Enter X-Cart (after the fact)... My question is this... since the current site is designed just the way we like it, is it possible to add any X-Cart functionality to the existing website? Say for instance that on a product page with all the fancy Flash and everything I want to put a dynamically generated link to this product that would be in X-Cart. Or let's say that I have a "widget of the month" club that I want to display prominently on my existing site's homepage but have a dynamically generated image and link to the *current* widget of the month. Is it possible to place some X-Cart or other PHP code in the existing pages that will "tie-in" with X-Cart? Or am I going to have to find a way to take the existing design with all it's fancy features and force it into X-Cart somehow (which sounds like a nightmare) in order to take advantage of the code that is already in the existing templates. Please enlighten.

![]() Personally (and this is only opinion not fact), I have always found it easier to make X-Cart the core of the site and use Static Pages for any 'outside' content. IMHO, trying to pull info from X-Cart when the core functionality of X-Cart is not loaded (i.e. home.php) would be a bigger nightmare
