Default assistance for a newbie??

These may be easy ones for people that have been dealing with php and MySQL for a while, but I am new to the language so bear with me.

I want to know which files I need to mod to get rid of the default "demo store" text in on the customer main page. I had X-Cart installed on Friday, and I've started to enter product into it. I want to put the store officially online on Monday, but I don't feel I should until I can at least get rid of that text.

Also, if anyone can direct me to where the template files are stored on the current version of X-Cart so that I can at least see how they are named (what items relate to what part of the software) it would be helpful.

Finally, if anyone knows of some good designers, I wouldn't mind paying for a complete design package (I do need a site logo too). I have a contest going on my site (in the discussion boards section) for a site logo, but so far no winning design submissions. The main site is at www.thetechpub.com, there is a link to the discussion boards there (or you can go to the boards directly at http://www.thetechpub.com/phpBB2/)

BTW, I am used to editing HTML (and XHTML) code (viewing the source code, not using WYSIWYG editors), but php is too foreign to me. With a moderate amount of guidance I should be able to make things look the way I want them to. It's just figuring out how things interact that has me puzzled.

Please don't force me to search for things, I've looked all over these boards already. If the info is posted, either tell me which thread to look in, or post up a link.

Hi,

All the text in x-cart, well most of it anyway is stored in the database. To edit things you need to go into your admin area and look for the languages button and the narrow down your search in there with the various menus and options.

The file that calls that bit of text is welcome.tpl found in the skin1/cutomer/main folder.

when searching for the text in the language area just drop in a few keywords and you should be ok.

If you interested in a design for your site get in touch with me off the forum and send me some details. use the email link below

Thanks, that actually helped out a lot. I like the way that you can use html tags inside the text fields and they come through to the site, just as if I put the code in my regular pages.

Adminstration > "Languages"

In the Adminstration Section of the admin screen/panel underneath should be a field entitled "Languages".
