I never go it to work, but I did find a GREAT css/ul menu mod from XCartMods called "X-Cart 3 Level Advanced Dynamic Category Menu". It's $49 and works great right out of the box. Well worth it when you figure the time you'd have to spend to try to create this yourself. I have it running on two sites and love it.
