Pros and cons of compiling templates?
I was wondering other peoples pros and cons of compiling the templates.
I compiled mine, it sounded like it would speed things up, but only after did I realize that once compiled, you could no longer use webmaster mode and If you compile templates to use only one language all text messages will be editable from the template editor directly, but you will not be able to edit the text messages using the Languages menu any more. For a newbie such as myself, I think I would have been better off not compiling the templates. Webmaster mode sure was sweet. |

I compiled..
Hey,
I have 3.3 version I think, don't know how to check..anyway, I compiled my stuff and I can still use webmaster mode, however, I am having problems with FTP permissions now, not sure if its correlated, but since I did it, I cant change my FTP permissions. I asked my x-cart designer that helped install if I should compile and they said if I wanted to, it really wasn't a big deal. The work "compile" just sounds bad..i probably wouldn't do it again either cause don't know what will happen down the road. Oh yeah, I can still edit my text from the languages menu too. I have only tried English, but thats all I'll use right now. |
