The forums are the best interface between the company and the customer in an online business.

How about giving all the employees a couple of hours a week where they stop whatever they are currently working on to spend some time on the forums either just reading or answering questions. Five minutes of a developers time can save many hours of a customers.

I recently made the choice to stick with X-cart after seeing many unanswered questions in another products forum. I also recently chose a PHP framework based on the level of support offered in their forums.
