This is actually our module that WebsiteCM resells for us. I do not see a ticket in our area though for it so I can't comment on why they haven't responded. It's not in our area on their system.
It shouldn't operate as you state. We haven't had any other reports of this that I know of. It sounds like possibly an install mistake. Have you double checked steps 6 and 7? Also if you applied this optional install step:
OPTIONAL INSTALL: Add filters to the admin search
Then please check step 1 in that section as well.
If that does not help, you may place a support ticket with us. Either user our form on our website or email "support".
