v4.6.5, which has FontAwesome included admin-side, I put this fun little free mod together...
FontAwesome Category Icons- Enables FontAwesome icons customer-side and allows you to use font category icons instead of images
- Based on FontAwesome v4.2.0 with 479 icons to choose from
- Icon searchers and colour pickers included
- You can still use image category icons alongside font category icons if you wish
- Made for X-Cart v4.6.5, but can be used on earlier v4.6.x versions
- Easy install, responsive
