If I understand correctly, here is how it goes. As shipped, X-Cart works with mysql/mariadb. However, X-Cart's codes are written using Doctrine ORM, which is compatible with postgresql. So, I would imagine that there is a way to make it work
with postgresql, sqlite, or Microsoftsql.
