There is a another big advantage to CSS in that you can place your content at the top of a page then use CSS to format that content visually. With tables, if you have a header that comes before the content, it's nigh-impossible to "place" the content in an SEO-friendly way.

Yes, content is king - using CSS gives the advantage that you can make that content appear first on a page to a search engine.
