Thanks for the replies, this really helps to clarify things and gives me the options I was looking for.

Since deadline is already here, we will watch the impact and then plan over the next couple weeks to upgrade the cart. Seems the best option since this cart has no mods, and should be an easy update, plus that way it's more secure and up to date.

I will definitely hire one of the companies here on the forum, the last upgrade through xcart directly was not a good experience at all.
