As an announcement, I can say that a new upgrade system will be released together with 4.1.0. This new system will be able to:
1) upgrade all installed add-ons
2) upgrade the currently used alternative skin (only skins, developed by X-Cart, such as Crystal Blue, Fashion Mosaic etc)
3) perform upgrades without Perl installed (the upgrade module has been redesigned using PHP)
