I'm just getting started with x-cart. I cannot figure out how to remove the Authentication, News & Help Sections from the left column. I only want Categories and Your Cart to appear.

Each time I modify customer/home.tpl, then that column stretches very wide. How can I eliminate these sections without disrupting the layout?
