Is support for 5.2.x coming to an end?
We recently reported a bug where every time the X-Cart is redeployed, the shipping method is appended with the text "(Deleted)". That means "UPS Ground" changes to "UPS Ground (Deleted)", which you can imagine does not look very professional and it's confusing to the customers.
The X-Cart Bug Tracker team acknowledged the bug, and after a few weeks of working on it, they simply concluded that it was fixed in version 5.3.2.9 and closed the issue.
Unfortunately I have clients that deployed their stores just prior to the 5.3 launch. Since 5.2.x required significantly more server resources than X-Cart 4.x, and has been barely functional at times, so they haven't wanted to spend money on re-coding templates and modules to switch to the 5.3. They feel like they've spend enough money navigating X-Cart bugs and if any more money is thrown at their store, it would be best to switch to a platform with a larger user base and better track record.
That being said, is the unwillingness to fix existing bugs in 5.2.x a sign that the X-Cart team is abandoning support for that branch of the software? I can't seem to find a working link to any meaningful roadmap on the X-Cart site.
Thanks
