I just ran a page speed test using pingdom.com/fpt The 2 parts of my home page that are taking the longest are the

_ee96420dc254c4c083427940408ef707.css - 3.21 seconds
and
_9cf30ecf0233fdf032488c2f15c81db0.js - 2.20 seconds

files. Is there anyway to speed these up more? I use the built-in x-cart speedup tools. I don't really want to minify since that makes the code harder to work with and from what I've seen online, can sometimes mess with the code to much that it breaks.

What have you all done?
