Seems like it to me. You will want to upgrade to Platinum. Really considering the work that goes into this software, and comparing it to what it would cost to build the functionality yourself, $500 is nothing.
Or you can just upgrade to the most current version of Pro, and then wait for another year to make the leap to platinum. No rule says you have to have the latest version of X-cart.
