I just searched for simple forums! I use Teemz on another site of mine and although it'd probably be classed as "shocking" by most developers, it works quite well just because its simple. (Teemz is cgi though)
punBB seems to be basic enough - took me about 2 mins to set up and has more than enough features for what I need.
