I had forgotten that x-cart uses the full size image as a thumbnail - no wonder it did not work. The changes I made were on the second line of code, so it did not affect the thumbnail which is what I wanted to change in this case.

Thank you so very much! I had to stop adding products until I could figure this out. Now I can go back to work.
