I've tried that as well.
For some reason its like the home page just isn't using that file ( /customer/main/Welcome.tpl ). or more accurately It appears that its using some cached version of the file.

When I view the source code straight from the browser it doesn't show my changes. but the changes are there when I edit the files through the admin area or download them via FTP.

Besides the template cache in /var/template_c are there any other places that the page could be pulling from? (My computer cache has been thoroughly cleared. and I've tried this on various other computers that reside off my local network)
