The only upgrade from 4.1.11 to 4.2.x is a SQL patch. The templates from 4.1.11 and 4.2.x are incompatible, so even to do a "upgrade" you will need to totally redesign your site.

If it is indeed less simple to edit, I bought the wrong product. That is not the way X-Cart was promoted. I like the 4.1.11 product - way better than oscommerce or commersus - but I'm feeling a little abused by qualiteam.
I'm good with - even thankful for upgrades and improvements - but a little disclosure would have been nice for a new customer.

4.2 isn't any "less simple" to edit, just different. All versions prior to this relied on tables and html. Since 4.2 is CSS based there is a bit of a learning curve involved.
