Default Anyone using Amember with X-cart to get subscriptions working?

Hi guys,

I took some time to look into how to set up subscription services but found that the subscription module is quite functionless and:

1) doesn't allow for different priced options of a service that then changes the subscription fee (only the set up price)
2) can't work with a basic paypal setup.

I saw amember mentioned and remembered dabbling with this about four years ago and remembered it worked fine with subscription services using paypal's basic starter package.

Does anyone use amember to overcome the issues of x-cart's current subscription module for their own needs?

Is this the best way to get subscription services for electronically downloadable goods on the web?

Any ideas around this subject would be appreciated, thank you.
