I understand where you're coming, truely I do. I am not disagreeing with the effect that it can have. As I have stated you can cook the figures which would have the same effect. But there are better tactics on how to establish how popular the store is... such as blogs, product reviews, product ratings, etc - these tactics are far more interactive than just printing a number (whether it is in the footer or in a column).

If the model worked for a busy store then why aren't the bigger ones currently employing it?

I am looking into adding the numbers up.
