What about finding an average content filler (which has an optimal height) for your product pages and having it disabled for your static ones?

Most users will scan your info, and when they do actually have an interest regarding the product, the presentation is usually the least of their concerns. Although you will be lacking that valuable retail/informational space for upselling etc.

The bigger commercial sites usually opt for upselling ugliness when it comes to presentation beyond the viewport and/or use a cutoff point and start the upselling again below the content.
