I already sent a couple of emails to Stephen with these questions, but then it occurred to me that the answers could potentially benefit others if posted here, or maybe somebody else knows the answer to my questions. Stephen, if you see this before you answer my emails, feel free to answer in only one place!


First:

I've been playing around with image size settings in the mod and with uploading different images in different places (only for one product so far). It's working fine, but I noticed that the cache directory is filling up with lots of different copies of the images. When I change the product image or change the size, obviously it needs to generate new cache images for that, but does it not automatically clean-out the old images that are no longer used?

Also (longer, but probably more important to me):

Per your earlier instructions, I have modified most of my product listings to only have the "master" image uploaded as the "Product Thumbnail" in X-Cart. I also have one product with a separate detailed image, and another with a different product image. Of these 3 different cases, none are doing quite what I wanted or expected. Allow me to provide a bit more detail for each case:

1. Products for which I have only uploaded a "master" image as X-Cart's Product Thumbnail are mostly behaving properly, except that there is no thumbnail image on the product page. I have noted that I can click on the main image on the product page to bring up the detailed pop-up, but I would prefer that there be a thumbnail as well to make it more obvious that a larger pop-up is available (or at least some text that clarifies that). In the Dynamic Images options, I have selected all of the options for displaying image thumbs below the main product image (e.g. "Display Main Product Image as first Detail Image thumb below the main product image on the product page," etc.). I'm assuming that one of these options should be displaying my thumbnail, but it isn't.

2. The product for which I have a "master" image as X-Cart's Product Thumbnail, plus a separate Detailed Image, correctly shows the 2 image thumbs below the main product image. However, when I click on one to bring up the pop-up, there are 3 images available (where it shows "Previous," "Next," and "1," "2," and "3" below the pop-up image) instead of only 2. Two of them appear to be redundant copies of the main master image, and the third is the additional detailed image.

3. The product for which I have a "master" image as X-Cart's Product Thumbnail, plus another as X-Cart's Product Image, correctly shows the thumbnail image on the category listing page and the product image on the product page. However, there are NO image thumbs below the main image on the product page, and clicking the main image to bring up the pop-up only shows the one image available--no detailed version of the Product Thumbnail image.

Is what I described above the intended behavior for each of these situations? It is certainly not what I desired for any one of them. Have I done something wrong?
