Hi EN4U,
If I understand your question correctly... then you are perhaps not using the full functionality of categories and sub-categories built into the cart.
i.e. at the moment you have only "one" level of category (and no sub-categories) - essentially all your categories are top level / 1st level categories.
What you should be doing is making "Mens Items" and "Womens Items" the top categories and then "xxxx1" "xxxx2" "xxxx3" etc. the sub-categories under each of these main categories.
So make a category called "Mens Items" and then click on it to open it - then add another category (this will be a sub-category e.g. "xxxx1")
This will give you the "top" category as a caption if you use fly-out category modules (either paid one or one you can do yourself from finished modules in the forum).
e.g.
Mens Items
xxxx1
xxxx2
xxxx3
xxxx4
Womens Items
xxxx5
xxxx6
xxxx7
xxxx8
